the last in this 'brand new old one' series. more laid back jazz vibes are the scene setter for this old battle-axe of a mix. mind you, some would argue that this mix is a bit like Mariyln Munroe; a bit more wholesome from a world at a time where it was the paradigm of beauty - we'll leave that for you to decide.

it's another brand new old one, and we get pretty deep & rhythmic on this one.  found this one hiding in the corner of my PC's hard drive, covered in dust underneath some videos I'd prefer not to disclose - think this mix may have used the tracklist as tissue and threw it away.

on a random visit to the old, long in the tooth PC in the living room, i stumbled upon a few forgotten mixes (from back in the En-i days). so they got a good old digital dusting, and were transferred to the NicBook to upload for you podcasters' pleasure. here's the first of a few audial treats, a cocktail of bruk-up beats and deep, rhythmic House - a refreshing alternative to my Tech of recent times.

A live excerpt (nice!) from the Soul Sanctuary charity gig on Sat 20th March 2010 - no tracklist, that's my live set rules! Large amounts were raised for the night's charity - DEC Haiti Earthquake Appeal, and fair to say a great night was enjoyed by all in attendance. been looking forward to doing the next Eclectic instalment for a long time! :] it's an opportunity to take a break from the normal dance music mix format and share some of my favourite tracks from my personal collection. no music released in the past year has managed to end up on the tracklist, but that's the good thing about it. Zero 7 may have released a new album this year, but Crosses from their previous album was the record that stood out for me this year - don't know why, maybe i'm just late with these things! 'Fragment Eleven...' by Kenneth Bager was taken from a great and inspiring example of not needing 'fresh' music to make a fresh mix compilation - i definately suggest checking out 'The Grandfather Paradox' if you haven't already. anyway, enough of the codswallop! time to sit back, take a sip of your tea/juice/double brandy coke, and hopefully enjoy the music as well.

it's happened. i have fallen to the digital revolution. my status as a vinyl jock is no longer, but from the short time spent acquainting myself with the new systems of work i think the uprising didn't come soon enough! sure you lose the 'authenticity' of DJ'ing to a degree when you're not flicking through your record box when playing out, but guess what - it's 2009.
for me personally this opens up a lot of doors in terms of tune selection, originality & accessibility to parts of my music collection which isn't on vinyl.

a light hearted compilation of summery, soulful House music.. feels like there were 101 mistakes in the mix at the time, but hey life goes on!

hopefully you will enjoy the selection of songs, including my first ever work on a production level - a remix of Lauryn Hill's 'Ex Factor'. the original is obviously from around a decade ago, but an overlooked classic in my opinion - this is a completely different take on it. it's only a demo, not been mixed down (or mastered in the slightest!) & is more of a rough idea as opposed to a finished product so please don't be too harsh! :]

this is the first mix i've put together since the passing of MJ, two wicked tracks from his 'Off The Wall' album on vinyl are included. can't be argued that the man was good at what he done, shame the trials & tribulations of the last 10 years detracted from that.
